Start from "ZERO" with RIZE!

By 0:49 , ,

In March I got to visit New York. Little did I know I'd get to live such an adventure, just hours away from going back to Venezuela.

My friends and I wanted to say good bye to New York properly. What would be better than a last party?
That's how we ended at the East Meets West. I call it party, because that's exactly how the event felt.

I was there just for one of the bands, but I found much more than that. Becoming a fan of a band right there on the live field, without having a previous impression of them at all, not even pictures or names, is very very thrilling. You just let yourself go and enjoy the very first impression, and it's so real for the simple reason they are there... playing live and giving you what they have, their pure talent.

That's exactly how I got to know RIZE

I don't know where I've been all this time, because these guys' curriculum ain't shy at all. Better later than never.

I won't throw a rant about who they are, how they sound and where they come from. But I definitely recommend you to check their facebook page where you will find all you need to know AND you can "like" them there:

I seriously recommend these guys to all of you. They have an incredible energy. KenKen's skills on bass are sick, VERY sick. He is the perfect complement to his brother, N.K (Nobuaki Kaneko), on drums. Who by the way is the only certified drummer by Pearl in Japan. So... He must be doing something right.

Jesse was a bit intimidating for me at first, but that's because I'm quite the awkward turtle and his energy is just so overwhelming. He does know how to take the party to another level.

I truly mean it. For someone to make me "bounce" with their rap, they have to be amazing (I insist, I'm just awkward). There was a moment when Jesse just went down to the audience and everyone formed a circle around him, allowing him to tell us his poetry "to our faces" and understand his message clearly. And why not... sharing some of his sweat with those he got extremely close to. Meanwhile, a very nice beat was played by the Kaneko brothers on stage.

When RIZE guys were around the place, my friend Nao goes to ask KenKen to take a picture with us.

Notice that by then, we didn't even know his name. But my friend just asked him and KenKen very nicely introduced himself, like any normal person, handshake included.

Oh! And... like a good japanese man, KenKen searched for his introduction cards in his wallet and gave one to each of us.

Take a look:

RIZE earned three new fans that night, but they definitely deserve MANY more. So just run check them out right now! Their energy is contagious.

Here, pictures of the "party" and the video for their song "ZERO", which is the theme for the Coke zero in Asia.

One last thing about this amazing evening, was the charity side of it. The Earthquake-Tsunami disaster in Japan is a year away in the past, but there's so much left to do. This small yet incredible concert was meant to gather donations for this cause, plus having the amazing opportunity to share with artists from Japan and the U.S. Here's more of the event in a more visual way, a special recap of the best moments!

"ZERO" isn't the first hit of this band, and of course it isn't the only one either. But I've seen new fans born out of it. Hence the title.

What are your thoughts then? Will you start from "ZERO" with RIZE? Or just do it wherever you want. They are worth it.
