RECREATE THE LOOK: REAL 2000 HYDE

By 14:26 , , , , , , , , , ,

Second opportunity I bring a Hyde look. It's one I've been wanting to recreate for quite a while, so as soon as I felt the impulse I decided not to miss it.

Oozing sensuality, glamour and dark intentions L'Arc~en~Ciel's vocal made sure to stay imprinted on everyone's memories with the iconic look from 2000's REAL live.

And it's such a simple look I wanted to share it with you in the form of a visual guide on how to achieve it, products included!

So if you're interested, keep reading

Here's my recreation

The strongest points of this look are only three:
1. Smokey eyes
2. Hyde's iconic long and inward bent brows
3. Nose and lip contour

Products I used. Feel free to adapt them to your own needs:
Revlon ColorStay foundation for Comb/Oily Skin in 180 Sand Beige | Missha Auto Eyebrow pencil in Grey Brown | Valmy Perfect Finish brow shadow in Dark (an equivalent is pictured, which is by Ardell) | Maybelline Color Tattoo in Immortal Charcoal | Coastal Scents Original 88 Eyeshadow Palette | Keratin Combing Cream | (contact lens are by PhotoWonder app since I don't have lens that color yet. They look pretty nice to be app edited!)

First go through your usual foundation routine. In my case I wasn't after a matte finish, and dark circles didn't need to be covered, so I skipped powder and concealer.

Eyebrows
1. Since I already have a tutorial on Hyde's eyebrow's here there's no need to say much. Yet the picture gives you a reference so you can notice how the inner ends of the brow go way past the inner corners of the eye. While the brow's tail is considerably separated from the eye, compared to the other extreme. I used the brow pencil to trace the new shape, and the brow shadow to fill it with small strokes.

Eyes

1. Using your fingertip with a dark grey eyeshadow surround your whole eye, barely letting the color go past your mobile eyelid. Extend the color at the outer corners, and also a tiny extension of the sides of your nose bridge. (I recommend cream shadows because of their lasting power and it's easier to create an smudged look with them, which adapts nicely to this look)

2. With the tiniest amount of black eyeshadow, trace your outer corner, lower lash line and below the inner ends of your eyebrows in a short downward motion. Blend all inward and very well. Draw a very thin line on your lashline, I used the black eyeshadow for this purpose, mostly to shape my eye. (The blending inward tip will prevent the shape you created before to smudge and become larger)

Nose

1. To create the straight, yet wide and round at the bottom shape his nose has, contour the sides only halfway down your nose. Then contour the sides of your nose wings and below the tip. Last but not least, to fake wider nostrils, actually line the surroundings of them, and gently blend with eyeshadow. (The amounts to use for contouring must be very small. If you consider you need more, gradually build it up. Same goes for the nostril shaping. Since you're working with dark colors, it's important to be careful)

Lips

1. A tiny bit of foundation or concealer will help to tone down naturally bold colored lips, just don't wash them off entirely, as you can see even his original lip tone is a soft pink so that's ok. Adding some lip tint/stain over the inner sides of both lips will create a subtle gradation.

2. Fake the shadow below his pouty bottom lip by drawing a very thin downward curve below your own lip and gently blend with eyeshadow. (Again, it's easier to slowly build up than removing a dark mistake, so use tiny amounts of those browns)

Hair

1. I used the combing cream to make my hair look wet, trying for the tips to stand outward. You can use gel if you want, and straighten it beforehand so it's even closer to the original look.

little extras

Just the makeup isn't enough? Here's some small suggestions to build your own REAL look:

This long hair faux fur jacket is the closest to the style Hyde was wearing for the occasion. Found it here

Underbust, overbust, corset style tops... any of your choice is ok, depending on how much you want to reveal. These overbust options can evoke the look because of their many details, like belts and chains. But you just go ahead and choose any that suits your needs. I saw these here

And that's it! Feel free to share your thoughts or reach me if you recreate it!
